I so miss the Milwaukee Road! To a great extent, it is a similar trip in the EMPIRE BUILDER, on AMTRAK.

Of course, the Empire Builder is a bit faster (when the freight trains let 'er through)... to the detriment of the scenery-gapers. My folks have traveled on that train at least a couple of times. When I've traveled westward by train, it's always been on a more southerly line, to Denver or Albuquerque and points beyond. I'd love to take a northern run, if only for the sake of doing so.
